X-Ray
An X-ray is a widely used imaging test that produces pictures of structures inside the body, particularly bones and the chest. MedeScope Healthcare Center provides X-ray imaging for routine, corporate and insurance medical examination requirements.
What it is
X-ray imaging uses a small, controlled amount of radiation to create an image. The part of the body being examined is positioned between the X-ray source and a detector, and the image is captured in moments.
Why it may be recommended
An X-ray may be advised to help evaluate symptoms, as part of a pre-employment or insurance medical examination, or to follow up on a known condition. It gives a healthcare professional visual information to consider alongside your history and examination.
What patients can expect
You may be asked to remove jewellery or clothing with metal and to wear a gown. You will be positioned by a technician and asked to stay still, and sometimes to hold your breath briefly, while the image is taken. The process is quick and painless.
How the service works
- 1Visit the center with your prescription or examination requirement.
- 2Change into a gown if required and remove metal objects from the area being imaged.
- 3The technician positions you and captures the image.
- 4Images are checked for quality and prepared.
- 5The report is provided for interpretation by a qualified healthcare professional.
Preparation
Wear comfortable clothing without metal fastenings where possible. Tell the staff before the test if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, so appropriate precautions can be taken.
